Army of Women Foot Soldier Program

We would not have the Love/Avon Army of Women were it not for all the women like YOU who have decided to join this revolutionary movement!

Now, you can do even more, by joining the Army of Women Foot Soldier Program!

Would you like to be a volunteer spokesperson for the Army of Women in your town or city? Would you be willing to spend a few hours a month helping us spread the word about the Army of Women? Then, being an Army of Women Foot Soldier might just be the perfect Call to Action for you.

We are looking for dedicated, savvy women—just like YOU—to help us spread the word about the Army of Women and to help us reach our goal: recruiting one million women of every age and ethnicity to step up, sign up, and take part in breast cancer research. Here’s how it works:

  • Sign up to be an Army of Women Foot Soldier by filling out the application here
  • You will choose what type of role you wish to pursue within the Foot Soldier program. You might be more of a networker who prefers intimately talking about the AOW with close contacts, or you might be the type who works best at a table energizing the event/conference crowd, explaining why the AOW is so important and why women need to register. Wherever you think you’ll best excel, you can let us know on your application.
  • Once you complete your Foot Soldier application, you will be given a link to join our online community for Foot Soldiers. Once you are provided the link, feel free to immediately browse our online community (which is available through a network called, Ning). Here you’ll be able to share recruitment ideas, chat with other Foot Soldiers, see what’s happening in your region, post pictures from events, etc.
  • It will take up to a month for the staff to sort through all Foot Soldier applications received and send all Foot Soldiers training material specific to their desired role. Once, the applications have been reviewed, next steps will be sent to each Foot Soldier with further instructions and details in how to get started.
  • Then, it’s up to you to go out there and spread the word!

Here’s what might be expected of you as a Foot Soldier. As an Army of Women Foot Soldier you might:

  • Attend events on our behalf, representing the Army of Women and increasing awareness
  • Host your own recruitment events
  • Recruit friends and family by utilizing social networking to increase the Army of Women’s visibility
  • Recruit organizations to become part of our Supporting Partner Network (find out more about our Supporting Partner Network)
  • Pinpoint areas of exposure for the Army of Women to promote awareness
  • Lead a presentation at a local club meeting regarding the Army of Women and encourage club members to sign up
  • Reach out to local media outlets to inform them of the innovative work the Army of Women is doing
  • Lead and a manage a group of fellow Foot Soldiers in your region
  • Locate and encourage venues (your local YMCA, local colleges, local Curves, etc…) to share and distribute information about the Army of Women

Here is how the Foot Soldier Program is structured:

  • Each state will exist as a TROOP.
  • Each TROOP will eventually have a TROOP ORGANIZER leading their TROOP (if possible).
  • Each TROOP ORGANIZER will be responsible for disseminating key information to their TROOP, as well as communicating with the FOOT SOLDIERS in their region regularly. They will be the main point of contact for their troops, encouraging and engaging their TROOP into action.
  • Larger populated states [NY, CA, FL] will eventually have more than one TROOP ORGANIZER in place.
  • FOOT SOLDIERS in states with TROOP ORGANIZERS should first and foremost report to their TROOP ORGANIZER with any and all ARMY OF WOMEN FOOT SOLDIER needs. All information must be passed through the TROOP ORGANIZER.
  • FOOT SOLDIERS in states without a TROOP ORGANIZER will simply report to footsoldiers@armyofwomen.org.
