What Does Participation Involve? If you join the Envision the Rhythms of Life study, you will first undergo a pre-screen phone call. You will be randomly (like the flip of a coin) assigned to one of two training methods AND to one of two different training time periods.
One training method provides training, live, from an instructor who delivers training by high definition and interactive videoconference, and another method provides instruction from an instructor who will be present in the same room with participants at the time of training.
Both groups will attend five weekly,4-hour long Saturday classes at Gilda’s Club Seattle, where you will learn and practice strategies for alleviating the side effects of your breast cancer treatment.
Classes will all occur within a 29 day period. You would be randomized to a classes beginning in April or in mid-September.
You will utilize the five senses (sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste), as well as movement and emotion to optimize health outcomes.
You will complete written assessments at one week, nine weeks, and 17 weeks. Written assessment includes questionnaires on physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. You will also complete short on-line practice forms up to five times a week.
The researcher will explain all procedures in detail during the pre-screen phone call.
