The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation and Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, today officially launch the Health of Women Study (HOW), a long-term cohort study tracking the health of women via online and mobile platforms. This new model for 21st century research was designed to facilitate finding the root causes of breast cancer, leading to prevention. Any woman over 18 years old, as well as interested men can join this revolutionary effort. HOW will study women who have not been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as those who have, in order to investigate its cause and new risk factors for the disease.

Fergie, eight-time Grammy Award winner and global ambassador for the Avon Foundation for Women, was a special guest at the tenth annual Southern California Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Santa Barbara, CA, on September 22-23. The Avon Walk Santa Barbara, the seventh of nine Avon Walks this year, raised more than $4.7 million to advance access to care and breast cancer research.

The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation’s Board of Directors announced today that Dr. Susan Love, the Founder and President of the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation has been diagnosed with Leukemia on a routine blood test. Dr. Love will be undergoing treatment over the next several months and expects to fully recover and continue her position as the President of the organization.

In the videos, participants are asked to unveil two distinct moments of realization: “When was the moment you knew breast cancer had changed your life?” And “when was the moment you knew your life could change breast cancer?”

Panera Bread is celebrating 10 years of fighting breast cancer by baking bagels. This October, the signature Pink Ribbon Bagel® will be sold at all of the company’s approximately 1,500 bakery-cafes, with at least 10 cents from each bagel sold going to a variety of breast cancer causes throughout the country. A staple each year in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, donations from the sale of the Pink Ribbon Bagel have now raised more than $1 million for breast cancer charities. Panera Bread and its franchisees hope to make 2011 the largest year for donations ever.
