In less than a minute, you can become a full-fledged member of the Army of Women.
The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation's Army of Women Program is committed to safeguarding the safety and privacy of each and every woman who joins the Army of Women and responds to a “Call to Action.”
We only collects information and biological specimens when they are needed. We do not store information in a database, and we do not maintain a traditional specimen tissue bank.
We adheres to all the privacy guidelines required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and will only work with researchers and institutions that adhere to all HIPAA regulations. Since our goal is to help researchers get the volunteers they need, we will not collect or store any health information from any Army of Women participants. In addition, Army of Women contact information will only be provided to centers and/or scientists who have sought written permission because they have study protocols that require this information.
We requires that all scientists and centers who will be working with members of the Army of Women:
- Receive Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for their studies. An IRB is a special committee established by an institution to review and monitor all research involving humans in order to ensure that research subjects are treated safely and ethically.
- Follow the federal government's Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information which is part of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
