Letter from the CEO

Dear Friends,

In Dr. Love’s blog this month, titled Discovery is Not a Straight Line, she outlines how the Foundation engages in research. We always start out with a goal in mind and design our studies to prove a hypothesis or discover new information about the human breast. As you’ve likely heard Dr. Love comment many times, we don’t have an accurate understanding of the anatomy of the breast or its ductal system. Yet, it is commonly believed that breast cancer begins in the lining of the ducts or lobules.

Dear Friends,

When we think of what our role in the breast cancer research universe is, we often cite phrases like “convening groups of experts to explore new avenues of research,” “collaborating on out-of-the-box studies,” “high risk-high reward,” and “engaging unconventional partners to attack problems from a new angle.”

Last month, the 9th International Symposium on the Breast did all of that and more in just two days. In this month’s Research Worth Watching, Dr. Love shares a few highlights of some of the research shared at the Symposium and it was fascinating!

Dear Friends,

2017 has picked up right where 2016 left off. We continue to move forward on all our projects and studies without pause. And, while we are focused on what’s coming next, I want to share with you two accomplishments from last December.

Letter from the CEO

Dear Friends,

2016 flew by! It’s hard to believe this year is almost over. Like so many others do, I thought I’d give you our list of highlights from this year. But, please read on because as great as this year has been, the real accomplishment is the foundation for growth we have built that is propelling us into next year.

Here’s a glimpse of how we spent our time – and your donations – this year:

Dear Friends,

As we look forward to Thanksgiving, I find myself reflecting on some of the amazing things that have happened this year at the Foundation thanks to your support.

What comes to mind first is the Metastatic Breast Cancer Collateral Damage Project’s Two-Day Think Tank held just over a week ago. Participants described it as “transformative,” “powerful,” and “revolutionary.” Indeed, it was all those things and more to the people there.

Dear Friends,

October is now past the half way point, which means we’re in the final stretch of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. That does not mean we’re almost done with our work or will ease up on any of our activities after October. In fact, if anything, we’re gearing up for more research in the coming months. I’m happy to share some exciting things happening at the Foundation.

Dear Friends,

Autumn is my favorite season. The weather starts to change – even here in Southern California where the temperature drops from the 90s or higher down into the 80s. It’s filled with celebrations, starting with Halloween and moving quickly to Thanksgiving, but with none of the chaos that comes with the December holidays.

Why am I talking about Halloween and Thanksgiving when it’s still only September?
